Starblitz
Starblitz is a 10-year old girl in the 5th grade who lives in a small town but has HUGE dreams.
As the middle sibling of 5, she’s often torn between helping her older siblings with chores vs taking care of her younger siblings. Since her parents are always in town selling their goods, she spends a lot of time with the animals the she wants to be alone.
Starblitz’s real name is Lucy Barner, but everyone calls her “Little Lu” after her locally famous grandmother, Lucille.
Starblitz has dreams of becoming an advocate for international women’s rights but has issues understanding her newly diagnosed disorder. She has ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). It’s a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people communicate, learn, and interact with others. It also affects a person’s behavior which may seem ‘odd’ to some.
In addition to ASD, Starblitz also experiences a mood disorder. Sometimes, she happy, sometimes she’s sad, and rarely she’s mad!
Her teachers and friends have been supportive since her diagnosis was shared; however, her family isn’t as accepting of her new normal.
Starblitz’s biggest women’s rights figures include: Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth, and Dr. Mary Edward Walker.
